Sun is Going Down

More crap kids :)

I should of kept the last one simple like I did here. That’s a problem I have …I tend to start adding crap where I don’t really need to. So for simplicity, this one is as simple as it gets – one guitar and two voices. Actually, three voices, because I couldn’t exactly limit Amber to something that simple. That would be a waste!

Sun is Going Down – pop

October 23, 2008. This tune got its start when I caught about a 15 second glimpse of some Bravo movie that was on one afternoon. There was this guy who walked up to a porch of some small house, mid-day, realized no one was there, had this stunned/contemplative look on his face, and then turned around slowly (sadly) and left. That was it. It kinda put me in a mood of sorts, so I started in on some campfire chords – and the story just went from there. After getting something down, I went through about 7 or 8 ‘changes’ before I finally settled on the final lyrics and form. At the start I had put in a chorus from one of the first songs I had ever wrote, but I (thankfully) pulled myself away from using it.

The whole feel was a Sarah Harmer thing, so of course I had to get my little Sarah Harmer background singer to help out ;) She did wonderfully though, and put enough of herself into it that should make it obviously ‘Amber Suchy‘ as opposed to anyone else. While she was over, I got to listen to (and record) a song that she wrote for her group ‘The Ambers’ …which is essentially her and her sisters. It was good. Yep, lol – I’ll admit that. I think her and I are usually on the same wave-length when it comes to songs, although you wouldn’t really guess that if you knew our sordid past. Through it all though, we share a lot of the same tastes in music …and that’s why I like getting her help once in a while. Anyway, I need all the vocal assistance I can get.  Download here.  *shhhh, the secret word is ilikeslurpees*

I’ve been waiting, but the door is closed.
I’ve been standing round just killing time.
I’ve been hoping that you might have had a sudden
change of mind.

I’ve been thinking about the things you said.
I’ve been wondering how it got this way.
And now I’m standing here on a dusty piece of ground
and I’m ashamed.

And now the sun is going down.
And the night is coming on.
And if I knew what I know now -
would I still be wrong?

Did you love me? I know you did.
I believed you when you said I’d be the one.
I’m so sorry that I didn’t do the things
I should’ve done.

So please forgive me if you get the chance,
cause a bitter heart only weighs you down.
And if it matters, I remember every day
you were around.

But now the sun is going down.
And the night is coming on.
And if I knew what I know now -
would I still be wrong?

But now the sun is going down.
And the night is coming on.
And if I knew what I know now -
would I still be wrong?

Mmmmmms…

If this is what you consider crap, I would love to hear what you think is good. I really like this song. It’s just, beautiful. :D Very good song.
